BREAK-FRAME INNOVATION

Many firms claim to be creative, but AES R&D has a tradition of breaking the mold to develop products that are uniquely different in their approach to the same old problems. ARK (Anti Rotational Kinematics) technology is a recent example that resulted from this process. Beginning with a thorough problem definition, the AES multi-discipline team begins with a broad concept generation phase to test and evaluate the concepts in virtual simulations.  In this case, simulations compared the degree of strain in brain tissue, and were then validated by NOCSAE protocol simulations.  This modeling approach allows AES to predict real world outcomes without the time or expense required to develop physical prototypes.  The old trial and error approach has been replaced with varying materials properties programmed into the simulations until optimal performance is achieved.  Then, the refined concept is prototyped and validated through conventional lab testing.
