Many firms claim to be creative, but AES R&D has a tradition of breaking the mold to develop products that are uniquely different in their approach to the same old problems. ARK (Anti Rotational Kinematics) technology is a recent example that resulted from this process. In this case, simulations compared the degree of strain in brain tissue, and were then validated by NOCSAE protocol simulations. The old trial and error approach has been replaced with varying materials properties programmed into the simulations until optimal performance is achieved. Then, the refined concept is prototyped and validated through conventional lab testing.
